Slice From Adrianna's Life
Afterburn...
Well, I'm almost over the
flu which I seemed to contract after I returned from RT. I really did
enjoy my trip to Pittsburgh and I did a lot of sightseeing while I
was there. Be sure to check out my photos at flickr.com.
Of course, attending three conventions over the course of six weeks
certainly had a lot to do with my resistance being down by the time I
returned home from RT.
It's always a pleasure to
meet up with old friends at the convention and meet new ones. This
year, my sister, niece, and mom, drove eight hours to meet up with me
in Pittsburgh. That was so much fun and I gave them each a bunch of
goodies from the convention for them to take back and share and enjoy.
They really enjoyed all the goodies.
Now I get to return to my
cave and get back to writing. I've no plans for another con until the
Faerieworlds Festival which will be held in Eugene, Oregon, at the
beginning of August. That will be fun. I love communing with the faeries.

Lilac
Wine
This month I promised a
recipe for lilac wine. I've always loved lilacs. When I was growing
up, there were quite a few bushes of them on the high school lawn
right next to the steps leading down to Elm Street. Years have gone
and my old brick high school on the hill is now a middle school, and
my school and the neighboring school have merged and a brand new high
school resides between the two towns. Our colors were crimson and
white, and our mascot the Red Devil. I believe the colors are now
navy and white or silver and the mascot is a bulldog. Things change.
But I digress. Back to
lilacs, one of the plants of the Syringa
family.
Shrubs that contain clustered flowers--small, purple (or white), and
very fragrant. In making wine, pick off the stems. These tiny buds
can also be frozen in baggies for later use, so you can make the wine
at your leisure. It has been called one of the best and most
delicious wines to drink.
